For many women, breasts are a symbol of femininity and desirability. It’s not just about size, but breast shape, the way they fit into and fill out clothing, and how they look without a bra that contribute to a woman’s image of her bust.

Breast Fat Grafting Surgery in Dallas, TX

Breast contour and position impact the look of the entire torso. Perky breasts signify youth and fitness. Drooping breasts shorten the torso and reinforce the appearance of poor posture. While there is little that can be done to avoid the changes that come with natural aging, pregnancy, breast-feeding or weight fluctuations, a breast lift procedure can rejuvenate and restore sagging breasts to a more youthful form and position on the chest.

Breast shape depends largely on the quality and elasticity of the skin plus the quality and density of the tissue filling the skin. A combination of skin stretching over time, losing its ability to recoil, and the decline of breast density and volume contribute to the appearance of a deflated breast. Whether you have a lot of breast tissue or less, if your skin envelope is not optimally filled and held taut, the whole breast will droop.

A breast lift – also known as a mastopexy- is a procedure that enhances overall breast contour by removing excess skin and rearranging breast tissue into a more ideal contour. The new perkier breast will be elevated to a higher position on the chest wall and often the areola will be reduced in size to match the improved silhouette. A mastopexy can also improve breast symmetry. Restoring a youthful chest with a breast lift will also elongate the appearance of the torso, revitalizing the entire figure.
Dr. Deniz Basci completed advanced aesthetic fellowship training and has expertise in cosmetic breast aesthetics. She uses Vectra 3D photography technology to illustrate how you can expect your breasts to appear after surgery. Depending on your goals, you may need a breast lift alone or in conjunction with a breast implant or fat grafting to restore lost breast volume. Internal Bra

For some women, more support is needed to elevate and shape the breast than the tissues are capable of handling. In cases where tissues are especially thin, the skin is inelastic or the patient would like to maintain a large breast volume, Dr. Basci uses a biologic surgical scaffold as an internal bra to help maintain desired breast shape and position. The scaffold helps reinforce areas of weakness where the tissue is deficient and unsuitable to bear the weight of the breast tissue. During your consultation Dr. Basci will assess and determine whether you are a good candidate for added support from the internal bra. This advanced technique is an excellent solution for women who would otherwise have to compromise on breast size or accept a higher risk of early recurrence of breast sagging, also known as ptosis.

Preparing for Breast Lift Surgery

Prior to any surgery Dr Basci will review your general health history, surgical history and current medications. You will need to stop taking any medications or supplements that increase the risk of bleeding 2 weeks before surgery and remain off of them for 2 weeks following surgery. Make sure to check with your primary prescribing physician before stopping any medications.

It is important to prime your body with a healthy balanced diet in the months leading up to surgery. Make sure you have the appropriate protein intake. Protein is vital for healing.

Breast Lift – Mastopexy Technique

Dr. Basci begins by evaluating your individual goals and unique anatomy to determine the best surgical sequence to give you an exceptional outcome. Every patient’s procedure is customized and varies based on their needs.

Initially, Dr. Basci will measure and mark you in the pre-operative area and demonstrate where you can expect your incisions to be. In most cases the incision is an anchor shape; hidden around the nipple, down the middle and then tucked along the breast crease. After removing the excess skin, the breast tissue itself is evaluated and reshaped into a youthful breast mound, higher on the chest. In some cases, breast tissue is removed to create the most attractive breast shape.

Finally, the incisions are closed using meticulous tension free suturing technique in multiple layers to promote healing and minimize scarring. Please note that scarring varies from patient to patient due to genetics, but rest assured Dr. Basci’s technique will deliver the best possible outcome for you.

Recovery from Breast Lift Surgery

Just as every individual procedure is distinct, so is everyone’s recovery experience. Most patients will go home the same day as their procedure, unless they underwent simultaneous procedures such as a tummy tuck or high definition liposuction. You should expect moderate bruising and swelling of your breasts. The swelling typically peaks on post-operative day 3 and then gradually begins to resolve.

You may shower the same day as your surgery. Avoid sleeping on your stomach and applying direct pressure to your breasts during the first few weeks after surgery. This is to avoid inadvertently causing pain or disrupting your surgical site before it has.

Any non-dissolving sutures will be removed in the office at your first a post-operative visit. You will need to apply a thin layer of ointment to your incisions once a day until they are fully healed and protect the incisions from sun exposure. Talk to Dr. Basci about when it is safe to begin silicone scar treatment.

You can resume your regular balanced diet and regular activities of daily life immediately following your procedure. Dr. Basci recommends you sleep on your back for the first week after surgery to minimize pain and swelling. You should expect to be moderately swollen during the first two weeks. This will gradually improve along with any bruising, numbness and tingling. It typically takes 2-3 months for the swelling to substantially resolve and for the breast to round out into it’s final shape. Dr. Basci asks that you wear a soft sports bra or surgical bra with no underwire 24 hours a day for the first 3-4 weeks after surgery. This is to help support your breasts in their elevated position during the early stages of healiiing

You may begin light exercise the 4 weeks after your procedure. Dr. Basci recommends you avoid intense exercise, heavy lifting, yoga and pilates for 6 weeks after your breast lift. Most patients resume full activities 6 weeks after surgery.
